the Danish Connection

Today was the day of the trip to Denmark. Helsingor is just across the canal, you can actually see it really clearly from the shore here in Helsingborg, so the trip over by ferry only takes about 20 minutes. Kathryn was worried about getting seasick, so we made sure we made it up to the top floor for the journey. It worked, because she got to keep her breakfast.
On the ferry they have tax-free candy and liquor, but we mostly got candy...
Denmark is quite interesting. Even though they basically speak the same language as Swedes with most words very similar, their pronunciation is so different that it takes a real effort to understand.
We mainly just browsed the stores and the shopping-center there. Most things are more expensive in Denmark, so we didn't buy much, but it is very pretty there, and we enjoyed the scenery.
We had fika, with a real Danish (not those stupid cheese things that they have in the states, and I'd think that a Danish Danish should be the real thing, but you might disagree...:)
The one we had actually had chocolate on it... real nice.
For lunch we stopped at a pizza place, but it was run by arabs, so I don't think it was the real kind of pizza... who cares, it was still very good. I had a Kebab which was also very nice.
Kathryn had some friends from Denmark that we tried to get in touch with, but since we couldn't get a hold of them, we ended up not even going down to Copenhagen where they live.
After the ferry ride back to Helsingborg we went back home where I spent some time working on my talk before we enjoyed some wine and cheese we bought in Denmark... veeeeeeery nice :)
Now we're getting ready for bed, we have a long day of travelling ahead of us tomorrow since we're traveling the whole way back to Härnösand where my parents live, and that is about 7 hours away.... g'nite
